Is it possible to add links for a page view, either: one link for the entire page or (better) hotspot image map style links. This is for catalog pages being display, and the links would take you to a specific details/specs URL

That's excellent for pages WITHIN the same catalog. Is there a variation for links to (arbitrary) URLs (ex: order.php)
You can use any you like. CSS layer - arbitrary HTML(no limits).
Client is finally implementing table of contents, thus links to pages in the catalog. We've copied/modeled after your example, but must have missed something that we cannot determine why the hotspot shading and links aren't showing. Note that we have only changed the target page numbers thus far, since we're not sure what the origin for the top and left is, we assume the image itself.
